Cat's Eyes and Pale Giraffe

Bored Panda is a thing.  No noisy, intrusive ads.  No bullshit.  Just interesting stories and great images.  Like animals?  Forget the Dodo.  Not so much wallowing in cruelty cases, and decidedly fewer overwrought adjectives.  Check it out.

It isn't just animals - Arts, Culture, "Weird", Photography and much more.  The surf pics and the 16 most beautiful trees of my recent posts were all from Bored Panda. It's Crackalakin'!

More samples... These are from the Animals section.  Now, wouldn't you rather see this than hamsters dressed up in Barbie clothes, or a story about how some guy set his pit bull on fire and tossed it in a dumpster?

Rare White Giraffe Spotted In Tanzania
1 month ago by Julija Televičiūtė

This stunning giraffe has not been photoshopped, she’s real! Omo, the 15-month-old beauty whose skin looks as if it was bleached, is suffering from leucism. It’s a condition that results in a partial loss of pigmentation.

She was spotted in Tarangire National Park in Tanzania by Dr Derek Lee, founder and scientist at the Wild Nature Institute. “Omo appears to get along with the other giraffes, she has always been seen with a large group of normally coloured giraffe – they don’t seem to mind her different colouring,” he explained.

“We and our partners are working on giraffe conservation and anti-poaching to help give Omo and her relatives a better chance of survival. We hope that she lives a long life and that some day she has calves of her own.”

“Omo is the only pale giraffe we are currently aware of,” said Dr Derek Lee

“Adult giraffes are regularly poached for bush meat, and her colouration might make her a target”

This Cat’s Eyes Have A Whole Universe Inside

1 month ago by Julija Televičiūtė
This cat will put a spell on you for sure. The kitty’s multi-colored eyes look as if there was a universe hiding in them (and since pretty much everything revolves around cats these days, it wouldn’t be a surprise).

On a more scientific note, sectoral heterochromia is responsible for this magic. It’s a condition when the iris contains two completely different colors in the same area.

If your cat was born with such mesmerising eyes – there’s no need to worry about it, it doesn’t affect your pet’s vision. However, if your cat had normal eyes and later on started to develop heterochromia, it might suggest a disease.
