Junji Koyama: Producer of Silly Produce Music Productions

In the immortal words of Mr. Bergstrom, Lisa Simpson’s substitute teacher, “Everybody has a talent.” This man’s special talent is turning vegetables and fruits into musical instruments. For the last nine years Japanese musician Junji Koyama has been entertaining YouTube with performances on the produce instruments he carves himself, such as the video in which he plays “Amazing Grace” on a cabbage slide whistle.

Koyama also makes tutorial videos teaching other aspiring produce performers how to make their vegetable instruments of their own. Follow Junji Koyama on YouTube to check out many more of his singular performances, including “You Are My Sunshine” performed on a carrot and green onion slide whistle:

If you’re still standing you can watch Junji san with his candy package bagpipe, doing a smashing rendition of “Oh, Susannah!”

Hey, it’s better than his rendering of “Amazing Grace” on a cabbage.  Don’t say you haven’t been warned!

And if that’s not silly, I don’t know what is!
