Uluru Lights

For an awesome large scale art installation entitled Field of Light British artist Bruce Munro used over 50,000 colorful light bulbs to illuminate an expanse of Australia’s Red Centre desert near “Ayers Rock / Uluru”. Field of Light covers an area about the size of four football fields with solar-powered lights on stems, making it look like the desert is blooming after the sun has set.

The Anangu tribe have named the piece Tili Wiru Tjuta Nyakutjaku in Pitjantjatjara which translates to “looking at lots of beautiful lights.”

Munro’s dazzling Field of Light just opened for viewing and will remain in place through March 2017. Profits from the installation will be donated to the local community.
