Restaurant waiter Alex Ruiz touched thousands of hearts after he was photographed feeding a customer who has no hands.

But the modest 22-year-old server at the Cinco de Mayo Mexican Grill in Douglasville, Georgia, said he just did what he thought was right.

I saw a man who needed help,” he told CNN. “It makes me very happy to help people.”

Ruiz didn’t hesitate when the the unidentified man asked for help after ordering food at the eatery on Sunday. The server spent the next half hour forking rice and beans towards the man’s mouth, rolling his shrimp tacos and talking with him.

So I'm at Cinco de Mayo and Alex (server) had a man come in with no hands. So Alex is now helping the man eat his lunch. This seriously hit me right in the soul. Still good people in the world

Regular diner Reginald Widener photographed the heartwarming encounter, and posted the image to Facebook (above).

This seriously hit me right in the soul,” Widener wrote in the post, which has since gone viral . “Still good people in the world.”

Inside Edition reports that after the man had finished his meal, Ruiz took his money to the cashier and returned with his change. He then went back to waiting the other tables as if nothing had happened.

“Everyone at work was telling him what a great guy he was,” said his colleague Crystal Figueroa.

“That’s just something you don’t see. A person feeding a stranger.”

Ruiz, who’s recently moved to Georgia from Chicago, played down the incident.

“I didn’t mean for it to cause a lot of attention, I just wanted to help,” he told Inside Edition, adding that he didn’t ask how the client had lost his hands because he didn’t want him “to feel uncomfortable.”
