Ospreys 2018

The Whirley Crane osprey nest in Richmond California is going strong this year.  Rosie and Richmond have raised three strapping chicks.  The chicks were banded yesterday - 2 boys and a girl.

 The orange eye of a juvenile.  The eyes turn yellow as the birds mature.

A parent flies in a talon-full of nesting material.

 Rosie gives the alarm and the chicks flatten as an intruder appears.
 
A nice big striped bass for breakfast.
